Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities and/or Chronic Illnesses at the University of Vienna
§ 1. For the University of Vienna, equal opportunities for people with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses constitute an important element on the path leading to equal opportunities for all students and staff. The University of Vienna strives to facilitate equal participation of persons with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses in study, teaching and research activities and to prevent any form of discriminatory action or behaviour.
§ 2. The guiding principle for the equality of persons with disabilities is compliance with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
§ 3. All teachers take into account the needs of students with disabilities and chronic illnesses when designing their courses within the framework of the given course contents and the available rooms and technical equipment.
§ 4. The University of Vienna takes into account the needs of employees with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses within the framework of the available rooms and technical equipment.
§ 5. The right of disabled students to an alternative mode of assessment is reaffirmed.
§ 6. The specific objectives for improving the situation of members of the University of Vienna with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses are defined in the Development Plan.
§ 7. This regulation enters into force on the day following its announcement in the University Gazette.
